Dr. Ph. Martin’s Watercolors

It’s Write It Wednesday!

Hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day! Yesterday I played around with some other type of watercolors I purchased a few weeks ago, but am just not getting around to playing with them. These are the Dr. Ph. Martin’s Watercolors. What’s different with these compared to Ecoline’s Watercolors is they have dropper lids. I decided since there’s a couple of Mardi Gras parade here in the city this weekend I would do Mardi Gras things today. Let’s get started…

Mardi Gras:

Dr. Ph. Martin's Watercolors -- Visit CraftyJBird.com for more info....To create this Mardi Gras I used a medium size waterbrush and four different colors from Dr. Ph. Martin’s Watercolor set. These colors included “Quinacridone Magenta,” “Ultramarine,” “Phthalo Green,” and “Cobalt Violet.” I tried using the shade of yellow that comes with the set but I just didn’t like it for this particular project. The writing just came out by alternating each color in no particular order. To get the different blending colors I didn’t wipe my brush off between colors, just continued using it so they would mix together.

Mardi Gras Time Galaxy:

After seeing so many different ones on Instagram I decided it was finally time to give it a try. To create it I started off with using my circle maker to draw my circle. Then, I used my waterbrush to add water within my circle so the colors wouldn’t go outside my circle. At least that’s what I read it’s suppose to do. Once my water was added, I started by adding the yellow shade of the Dr. Ph. Martin’s watercolors, also known as the “Hansa Yellow Light.” Using my waterbrush I spread the yellow around to cover most of my circle. I then just started added my other two main colors I wanted to use which were the purple and green shades.

After letting everything dry, I used a thick paint brush and dipped it into my “Titanium White” watercolor and then my “Carbon Black” watercolor. With each color on my brush separately, I tapped the brush to do a splattering effect. Once dried, I used my thin waterbrush and wrote out “Mardi Gras Time” with the “Carbon Black” watercolor.

There you go, another “Write It Wednesday.” Hope you enjoyed and learned something new; or at least have been inspired to try these yourself.
