Today, I wanted to share how I made some team color football mason jars. These are quite easy; however can be a little time-consuming. Let’s get started!

Things You’ll Need:

  • Mason Jars
  • Spray Paint
  • Ribbon
  • Adhesive
  • Cardboard
  • Empty Toilet Tissue roll (optional)

The spray paint I purchased from Hobby Lobby, my ribbon from Michael’s Crafty Store and I already had my mason jars but they were purchased from Target.

Step #1:

First, run all the mason jars you are planning on using through the dishwasher to make sure they are good and clean. Once finished, dry them off with a paper towel to make sure they are nice and dry before getting started.

Step #2:

Originally I thought using something to lift the jars up would help but since I didn’t have but one I decided against it. First, I set three jars on my cardboard box and sprayed them black. This was one morning around 7:30am Next, I set my other three jars down on the cardboard box lid and sprayed them purple. Let them dry.

Step #3:

After about 10-15 minutes, I checked them to see if I missed any spots and sprayed them again. Once another 30-45 minutes passed I checked them again but continued to let them dry. Given they probably don’t need that much time in most places, I live in North Louisiana where it’s hot and humid outside so it takes a bit longer for them to be good to go.

Step #4:

Around 2:30pm or so, I brought the mason jars in and started on the finishing touches. For each jar, I cut of 7 pieces total of ribbon. One long strip of about 5 inches of my thick gold ribbon for the Saints jars and 5 inches of my thick yellow ribbon for the LSU jars. Then, I cut a total of 18 pieces 2.5 inches of my skinny ribbons, enough for 3 pieces on each jar. Finally, I cut a total of 12 pieces about 2 inches of my skinny ribbons, enough for 2 pieces on each jar.

Then, I put adhesive on my thick long pieces and placed them on top of my skinny long pieces. Finally, I put the skinny shorter pieces on top of the thicker long pieces in between the skinny long pieces.

I’ve stuck my Tombow Dual Brush Pens to show the size mason jar I used.

There you go, another project ready to go! You could easily make these, not only NFL and college football games, but for middle and high school as well as any birthday party just to have color themed jars to put anything you wish in them. Have fun with it and post pictures!
